The Test of Time
Anders Gjennestad (Berlin/Oslo)
The Test of Time
While Berlin in many places is crafting a new face, the city maintains a relationship with its past, acknowledging it in all its glory and misfortune. Using spraypaint and hand cut multilayered stencils the artist’s work takes a humorous approach to mainstream tourism in Berlin. The interactive car doors installation invites the viewer to travel "Back to the Future" by turning the window winders.
In an homage to Duane Hanson, Gjennestad creates images of the sculpture "Tourists II" as examples of the disoriented tourists on their journey through the German metropolis.
The artist is represented in Berlin by Galerie Friedmann-Hahn. Wielandstr.14
